New Report Shows Haircare & Makeup Underperform

Daash Intelligence found that fragrance is taking the lead for market growth.

This week, Daash Intelligence found that hair & makeup are underperforming at -13% and -7%, while fragrance is picking up 1% of the market share and a Category Growth Index of +.05. 
 
Daash Intelligence is an AI-powered predictive commerce intelligence platform providing weekly insights into the beauty industry. 
 
Data is gathered from multiple research panels and considers search and site traffic to find out how people are shopping and what products people are viewing the most. 
 
Despite haircare’s underperformance, shampoos contribute 22% of total hair, conditioners 16%, leave-in conditioners 6%, and dry shampoos contribute 5%. 
 
However, year-to-date, leave-in conditioners are trending slightly, according to Daash’s research.
 
Daash Intelligence also now offers insights for personal care, vitamins, minerals, & supplements, health & over-the-counter, and, nutrition – categories that contribute to just shy of 1% of the total prestige beauty business.
